To my delight this is a very snowy winter around here. Please see the
first picture. Whistler had more than 4m of snow in November alone, a
record. From last Thursday night to Friday morning, they had another 50cm
overnight. I was on my way home Thursday evening, but had to go back to
Whistler, because the highway was closed due to an accident. Thursday night
there was a very severe storm on the West Coast, from Portland, Oregon, to
Vancouver. When I got home yesterday, I discovered that a fallen branch
(whose diameter is about 9cm) had landed on the roof of my house.
Moreover, it punched a gaping hole in the roof and even penetrated all the
way to the ceiling, cracking a part of it. With help from a friend, I had
to fix the hole in a hurry, because another snowfall was in the forecast.
The second picture shows the plywood that we cut out of the roof to repair
the damage.

そうですか、そちらではこの冬は雪が多いのですか。
１枚目のお写真、バンクーバーのお家の前庭ですね。
おお、すでに豪雪の様相ではありませんか。(^^;)
ウィスラー（Whistler）では４ｍ以上もの雪ですか！！
スキー三昧のTikoさんの嬉しそうなお顔が浮かびます。
（日本のスキー場は雪がなくて困っているらしいですよ）
ウィスラーからの帰宅途中にハイウェーが事故のために閉鎖されて、
バンクーバーへ帰れずにウィスラーへ引き返されたその間に
バンクーバーのお家は大変なことになっていたのですね！
日本ではこの時期の嵐は珍しいでしょうか。
２枚目のお写真、その凄まじさを想像できます。
でも、その落ちてきた木の枝というのはTikoさん宅の木ですか？
それとも隣の木？あるいはどこからか飛んできた木の枝？
いずれにしても、とんだ被害でしたね。
でもでも、「Mizuの部屋」の話題にしていただけてMizuにとっては幸いでした。(^^;) |
